Jim Ross jumped into creative pursuits in 2015 after a rewarding career in public health research. With graduate degree from Howard University, in seven years he’s published nonfiction, fiction, poetry, photography, hybrid, interviews, and plays in nearly 200 journals on five continents. Photo publications include Barnstorm, Bombay Gin, Blood Orange, Burningword, Camas, Columbia Journal, DASH, Ellipsis, Feral, Marathon, Memoryhouse, Phoebe, SPRR, Saw Palm, Stoneboat, Stonecoast, The Ignatian, Typehouse, UU World, and Whitefish, with Allegory Spoon, Glassworks, and Peatsmoke forthcoming. Photo-essays include Amsterdam Quarterly, Barren, DASH, Friends Journal, Kestrel, Ilanot Review, Litro, NWW, Paperbark, Slant, Sweet, Typehouse, and Wordpeace, with Pilgrimage Magazine forthcoming. He recently wrote and acted in a one-act play and appeared in a documentary limited series, I Sniper, broadcast internationally. Jim and his wife—parents of two nurses and grandparents of five little ones—split time between city and mountains.
