Alexis Petri is a reader of poetry and literary magazines and has a master’s degree in English. She is also an enthusiastic amateur photographer. For her, poetry and photography go together. She went to work as a researcher, hoping to learn more about life, love, resilience. For the past twenty years, she has worked with college students on service-learning projects, military veterans returning to college, and college students with a variety of disabilities. One day, about six months ago, she returned to writing poetry. When she is not working, reading, or writing, she can be seen poking around abandoned places with her camera or fixing up an old house.
